Contrast Ratio: Ratio of the level of the purest white and the black level of the most extreme. The higher the contrast ratio, the higher the projector is capable of displaying subtle shades of color, even in bright rooms.
Two methods are used to measure the contrast ratio.
The first, called "Full On / Off", measures the ratio between the amount of light emitted when the projector displays an all white image (full on) and the amount of light emitted when the projector displays an image completely black (full off) . The second method, method or ANSI (American National Standards Institute), 16 is to project black and white rectangles alternating.
