AIT
The Advanced Intelligent Tape is a technology using a rotating head of 8 mm to read the tape in a helical fashion. The strength of this technique is the low web tension, resulting in less wear and increased reliability of the head and the tape. The AIT uses AME tapes without metal particles and carbon coated. This is historically the first drive belt equipped with a memory device on cassette (MIC), to accelerate access to files.

DAT
The solution is a digital audiotape digital magnetic tape originally developed for audio recording. The DAT format also uses a helical reading. Its correct name is "R-DAT", the "R" means revolving, to distinguish it from "S-DAT", a previous version fixed. Most of the computer on DAT recorders use DDS format (a format for storing on newest DAT), identical to that of DAT audio. It is not always possible to read a tape from a different system.

DLT

Ultrium
